Job Introduction

Selfridges is a social centre where everyone is welcome. We surprise, amaze and amuse our customers everyday by doing the unexpected, celebrating special moments and inspiring one another. We are the destination for the most extraordinary customer experience, unrivalled with products and services ranging from high street to high end.

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our HR Team, on a 9 month fixed term contract, focusing on providing a strategic business partner service to their client groups, driving engagement and performance in line with business goals and Selfridges’ values.

This role will work closely with Executive directors in Head Office to implement effective people plans to optimise the people experience within each team. Whether that’s focusing upon how we develop our talent or ensuring that we recognise and value our teams, the Senior HRPB will be a key influencer to ensure our leaders have the right actions in place to inspire our people and enable success.

The Senior HRBP will also support the Senior HR Lead and Director of HR by leading on projects and initiatives to support the wider Head Office and company people agenda, and will work in partnership with specialists across areas such as Change, Employee Relations, Resourcing, Learning & Development and Reward.

A bit about the role

This is a generalist HRBP role covering all aspects of HR based in our London Head Office.

The Senior HRBP is expected to provide HR service to the business providing coaching and advice to senior leaders including our Selfridges Executive team, and where necessary, provide advice and guidance to managers on delivering their business through performance of their people. The role is critical to influencing, identifying and maximising opportunities to improve the potential capability of the managers enabling them to deliver.

A bit about you

Your passion and confidence will set you apart. While consulting with stakeholders across a number of Head Office functions, you will take real pride in delivering a personalised and professional service. You’ll have genuine passion for HR and out with a natural curiosity to discover and explore more.

Bringing your personality to the service experience you will always look to genuinely connect with your customers while thinking creatively to bring your ideas to life. As well as having the ability to work well as part of a team, you’ll be willing to embrace opportunities to build your skills in order to offer quality and reassurance to all of our internal and external customers and maintain solid awareness of business and industry developments.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working as at HRBP or Senior HRBP level, ideally within a retail environment or a fast past, commercial environment and have a strong generalist background.

You will need to have proven experience of identifying and delivering initiatives that have added measurable value to the business. Although you will be working as part of a Head Office HR team alongside other HRBPs, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously with the areas you partner with, allowing you to bring creativity to the role in terms of introducing and owning people activities that make a real impact.

A bit about us

Extraordinary experiences are not only for customers, but team members too. We offer all team members the chance to be a part of something unique where they can enjoy careers that provide inspiring experiences, exciting challenges and great benefits.

They also know that Selfridges is committed to developing its talent, which allows for a wide scope of amazing opportunities as the business continues to grow. Whether you are a Values Ambassador, Green Warrior, a member of the Work it Lab or you get your fix for fashion by taking part in our internal shows, there are many ways to show and develop your talent.

Living our Values is essential to the way we work day to day, encouraging greater social responsibility amongst our team members. From our Project Ocean campaign to Bright Young Things, we are focused on a long term approach to sustainability by buying better and inspiring change.

This role’s key benefits includes 35 days holiday including bank holidays, potential for performance related bonus, subsidised gym membership offer, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, pension contribution and not to mention a generous staff discount!

KNOW SELFRIDGES

Harry Gordon Selfridge first arrived in London from Chicago in 1906 with his heart set on opening his dream store. With his revolutionary understanding of publicity and the theatre of retail, Selfridges Oxford Street opened its doors for the first time in 1909.

The founder’s spirit of innovation and creativity lives on through its owners today. Since 2003, W. Galen Weston and his family have owned and operated the business. With the store being named ‘Best Department Store in the World’ on three consecutive occasions in a row (2010, 2012 & 2014) and most recently being awarded the title of ‘World’s Best Sustainability Campaign by a Department Store’ at the Global Department Store Summit 2016, Selfridges today is more than just the sum of its products. It's a shopping experience that promises to surprise, amaze and amuse and to this day, as Harry Gordon Selfridge said, ‘Everyone is welcome’.

With our Vision, to be the destination for the most extraordinary customer experience, innovative and iconic ways to make this a reality are never too far away. An exciting investment programme is underway in our Oxford Street store which has already seen us open the revolutionary Body Studio and the first phase of our new Designer Studio, providing customers with cutting-edge and progressive designer fashion in a creative and dynamic environment. In November 2016 we opened phase one of our new Accessories Hall – the Northern Hall. Once completed, the 60,000 sq. ft. space will be our biggest destination. It will also include a new concept space, personalisation bar and eyewear destination. 2017 has more exciting plans to unveil.

Team members across our business strive to keep our Vision a reality through the values we live day to day and the stories we make, tell and share.

KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING, WHERE AND WHEN

Whether you're looking for day-to-day insights into what it's like to work here, information on our different departments and the opportunities within them or what we are doing as a business, we have a number of channels you keep up with it all!
