Job Introduction

Key Purpose:

To support the Senior Events Manager and Events team to implement the delivery of a creative, innovative and extraordinary programme of events across the business, ensuring Selfridges is a market leader. The candidate will touch base with all categories, from fashion to food, and provide support on bigger programmes in our Regional stores and off-site.

A bit about the role

Role Scope:

Supporting the Senior Events Manager, the candidate will help to plan, produce, coordinate and deliver projects working on budget, on brand, and in line with the Selfridges Brand objectives. These events may vary from reader events, shop floor activity and book signings through to celebrity personal appearances, dinners for high net worth customers, fashion shows, large scale productions and stunts instore.

This wide role requires relationships across the business including Buying, Creative and Retail Operation teams, helping to deliver events that support all business functions and drive profitability and profile for Selfridges.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support a programme of events and special projects that surprise, amaze and amuse our customers
  • Budget support and reconciliation
  • Communication of projects to all key stakeholders from Project Packs to Critical paths and developing agendas and timelines and post event wash-ups
  • Develop and maintain a robust network of strong working relationships across the business and externally including partners and suppliers
  • Prepare and manage documents to track cost and expenses to reviewed with finance weekly
  • Negotiating with vendors
  • Vendor contracts and agreements working with our in-house legal team
  • Regular internal meetings to ascertain key business initiatives which may require events support, including new season launches, new brands and Masterplan changes
  • Ensure all events meet Health and Safety and Security standards
  • Ensure all events that might be off-site or exceptional productions meet legal and safety requirements
  • Brief in Graphics and Creative in a timely manner for events collateral and builds
  • Work with regional Marketing teams (Birmingham, Manchester Exchange and Manchester Trafford) and manage event production in-store
  • Supporting the team on Event days and build up with physical set up, staff management
  • Client liaison for duration of projects
  • Costing and project budgeting

A bit about you

 

Key skills:

  • 2 years experience in Events and Marketing
  • Great and natural ability to network, develop internal/external contacts and working relationships across a diverse range of functions
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Time management in a fast paced and multi-faceted environment
  • Strong understanding of top-end retailing desirable
  • Experience in event production including build, re-rig, sound, lighting and technical
  • Budget management
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Enthusiasm and passion to deliver innovative, creative and exciting projects

 

Person Specification:

Qualifications/ Training

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent

 

Technical Skills:

  • Microsoft Office/ Powerpoint / Excel / Word/ In-design
