A bit about the role

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Logistics Lead responsibility will be focused on ensuring that all movement of product is managed and controlled efficiently. The role will be responsible for all inbound ex-works transportation, including all necessary clearances, store deliveries and B2C carriers.

The Logistics Lead is a campus centric role, based at Selfridges DC in the midlands. 

As the Logistics Lead, you will: 

  • Be the Business Lead for 2025 Supply Chain transformation (Logistics stream & final mile stream)
  • Propose, develop, lead business transformation initiatives
  • Shape & influence approach to logistics & final mile delivery
  • Manage processes and systems to ensure logistics operations are controlled and capable of expansion to support business growth
  • Ensure the delivery of world class service by working cross functionally, ensuring activities operate effectively and efficiently
  • Manage physical merchandise flow from [1] brands & suppliers [2] distribution centre and stores, ensuring compliance with local, national & international law and processes
  • Manage carrier performance, negotiating service levels to ensure continuity of supply to quality, cost and agreed delivery dates
  • Ensure that all products are moving without undue problems; identify issues and risks, establishing appropriate contingency plans
  • Analyse cost and performance and drive actions for improvement
  • Manage and control the final mile budget and all related cost saving challenges
  • Manage and control freight expenditure within agreed budgets
  • Manage carrier performance, negotiating service levels to ensure continuity of supply to quality, cost and agreed delivery dates
  • Manage trade awareness & compliance issues/opportunities with merchandise functions
  • Assist buying teams with pre-order negotiation where required
  • Gather business intelligence of competitor fulfilment strategies and customer propositions to keep abreast of new developments and industry trends.
  • Be responsible to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders of which include: B&M, digital trading team, commercial finance, store operations, 2020 programme manager, project managers, governance structure

A bit about you

Experience:

  • A background within logistics, preferably retail or a fast-paced commercial environment
  • Meaningful experience of managing B2C carrier operations and providers.
  • International ecommerce is a definite advantage
