A bit about the role
Reporting to the Finance Manager in the Financial Accounting team, the Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining the company’s capital accounting systems, including the fixed asset register and associated business reports. Supported by the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that fixed asset records are compliant for statutory reporting purposes and that management information relating to fixed assets is produced accurately on a monthly basis. In addition this role will be the first point of contact within the business for capital accounting queries.
As a Finance Analyst - Capital, you will:
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for all capital expenditure, providing detailed information to support the year-end audit, project management conversations, and forecasts, budgets and monthly management information relating to fixed assets
- Support the Finance Manager with month end reporting and budgeting and forecasting for fixed assets, predominantly depreciation and asset investment expenditure
- Supporting the Finance Manager in the review and streamlining of existing business processes relating to capital accounting
- Support for all statutory and internal audits, assisting in the preparation of supporting documentation
- Prepare the balance sheet reconciliations on a timely basis across balances within Financial Accounting, Treasury and Capital, and on-going review and timely resolution of reconciling items from reconciliations
- Be responsible for the fixed asset ledger, including capitalisations, disposals and ensuring accurate depreciation rates
- Liaise with colleagues outside finance on all financial aspects relating to capital expenditure
- Be responsible for ad-hoc administrative support to Financial Accountant and Treasury Accountant
- Communicate with a range of individuals across the business is important to this role; the jobholder will therefore need good inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
A bit about you
- Qualified Accountant
- Excellent excel skills and is confident/experienced in dealing with large volumes of data and with complex spreadsheets
- Capital accounting/process/system improvement experience
- Attention to detail and ability to work to a high standard of accuracy in a time pressured environment
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, large, complex organisation
- Excellent communication skills & interpersonal skills as will be dealing with a range of individuals across the organisation
- Familiarity with reconciliation processes
- Highly organised, efficient and able to manage own workload
- Team player
- Proactive and inquisitive nature to understand, document and improve existing processes with support of finance manager
