A bit about the role

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The purpose of this role is to drive PR coverage and create greater brand awareness for Selfridges as a whole. We are judged on the quantity of fashion press coverage, calendar activities, in store events, designer pop ups and initiatives as a barometer for other categories too.  Therefore, we need more volume and larger features to reflect the breadth of brands on offer in all our stores.

A bit about you

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong experience in Food/Restaurant PR; and confident with strategic PR planning and idea generation
  • Strong relationships with a broad selection of media contacts both at editor and journalist levels
  • Proven ability to generate high quality coverage (gold coverage) with a 360 approach to be in sync with social media
  • Strong Social media skills and creative ideas for creating content
  • Fully conversant with all social media platforms and how to maximise PR opportunities (through social media influencer relationships.
  • Work with non-Selfridges food and drink brands to maximise the brands awareness in store through creative concepts and opportunities
  • Finger on the pulse for global and UK food & lifestyle trends
  • Strong creative writing skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be an excellent communicator; within the Press Office and cross-functionally with other departments; and at all levels - including top level management
  • Understanding of working across teams to deliver business objectives
  • Interest in sustainability within food & restaurant & lifestyle spaces
  • Team management experience
  • Experienced in PR events planning
  • Excellent computer skills (Powerpoint, Excel and ideally inDesign)
  • Fully connected with the news agenda.
