Job Introduction

The Business Analyst assists the business stakeholders and interested parties to articulate, refine and communicate their business needs in response to a business problem or opportunity.

A bit about the role

The role works closely with both business and IT colleagues to understand the business problem or opportunity. The Business Analyst analyses, documents and reviews the current ways of working, and then uses that information to define and validate the business requirements and business solutions design, with support from the Architecture team. The role is also responsible for working closely with third party suppliers to ensure that any chosen solution meet the business need.

A bit about you

  • Demonstrable experience of running business requirements and project definition workshops, and resolving complex scoping issues and stakeholder conflicts
  • Experience of supply chain best practice processes documented to industry standards, preferably in support of retail environments
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Handling Equipment, Warehouse Control Systems and Warehouse Management System solutions
  • Experience of implementing automation into Distribution Centres
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to produce a variety of specifications including logical data requirements, business process flows, user interface changes, use cases and 3rd party package specifications
  • Excellent ability to elicit, analyse and engineer requirements demonstrating excellent written skills when producing requirements specifications
  • Ability to perform estimation for BA related tasks
  • Ability to eloquently present findings to stakeholders
  • Experience of reviewing and selecting third party software solutions
  • A clear, logical thinker who demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills
  • Capable of working with minimum of supervision and the ability to manage others to ensure delivery to agreed timescales
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to follow tasks through to completion
  • Consistently develops and maintains strong, long term relationships with business and IS stakeholders
  • Personal effectiveness, confidence and resilience, with an ability to influence colleagues at peer level as well as more senior levels
  • Enthusiastic, high energy and determination to achieve results also demonstrating the ability to work as part of an effective and highly skilled team  
  • Must be able to understand business change needs, assess the impact of those changes capturing, analysing and documenting requirements
  • Strong appreciation for user experience and evidences clear customer focus
  • Must be effective in understanding the criteria involved in making a decision and assist others to make decisions
