Job Introduction

At Selfridges, our customers look for the latest homeware trends, the hottest decor and key designers. As an Assistant Buyer within our Home department, it will be down to you to make sure that’s exactly what they get.

A bit about the role

Applying your knowledge of homeware,  you’ll support the sourcing of our products. You’ll be negotiating with suppliers – so we’re looking for someone with the tenacity and resilience to secure the very best terms for the store. You’ll also build strong relationships with merchandising and operations colleagues within the store, using their insights as well as your own to determine which products are performing well, and to make recommendations on where we take our ranges next.

A bit about you

With experience as an Assistant Buyer with a leading retailer, you’ll be passionate about Home. A forward thinker, you’ll be up to speed on seasonal trends and hold your own when you’re dealing with reps. Creative flair, attention to detail and strong influencing skills are all essential for your supplier negations.

A bit about us

We are a shop run on imagination: a place where the world’s most covetable brands combine with the most extraordinary spectacles, events and ideas for an experience like no other.

We have challenged the rules of retail from day one, whilst demonstrating our unwavering commitment to sustainability.  In 2016, we were the first to be awarded with recognition for the ‘World’s Best Sustainability Campaign by a Department Store’ at the IGDS Global Department Store Summit, in-line with its focus on buying better and inspiring change. We are also recognised as the Best Department Store in the World (2010, 2012, 2014 & 2018) underlining our place at the forefront of retail. In 2018 we were recognised as a LinkedIn Top Company to work for.

Our vision is to be the destination for the most extraordinary customer experience, and our people are central to us achieving this.  As an employer we are committed to making Selfridges an exciting, inspiring and fun place to work
