The key purpose of this role is to successfully manage the workflow and output of the Online Content Team; producing accurate, informative and trend-focused product copy. To ensure daily and weekly copy deadlines are met in order to maintain the smooth running of the Online Photostudio by maintaining department efficiency. To deliver authoritative content that maintains our high standards at all times, that both informs the reader and enhances the Selfridges customer experience. To ensure our tone of voice is adhered to and ensure all team members, both core and freelance, are writing to our house style and to a very high standard.

A bit about the role

Based in our Duke Street offices you’ll provide a unique and tailored service in the Photostudio team to customers both internally and externally, going beyond the ordinary to create memorable interactions and deliver. Our customers expect extraordinary service delivered by people with a genuine passion for what they do and to share their unparalleled level of knowledge whilst taking enormous pride in maintaining our exceptionally high standards.

Working in the Photostudio you’ll share your knowledge through unique Selfridges stories.

 

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Continue to build the Selfridges reputation as an authoritative fashion destination through informative product copy that is detailed, trend-focused and relevant
  • Manage and oversee a team of Junior, Mid-Weight and Senior Copywriters in a very fast-paced and reactive photostudio environment
  • Guardian of all tone of voice documentation for Selfridges product copy
  • Manage and recruit a wide pool of freelancers against a reactive workflow during peak and off-peak times, monitoring freelance spend/budgets throughout the year
  • Maintains high standards with consistent content from internal and external copywriters
  • Thorough understanding of Content Management Systems
  • Strong understanding of SEO and how to use this effectively in order to maximise revenue
  • Sound knowledge of the luxury retail sector with previous experience in fashion
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with department heads and key stakeholders across the business
  • Liaise with the wider Online Team in order to rectify data and/or imagery issues in a timely manner
  • Regularly sub-edit the team’s work, with one on one editing and feedback for all Junior writers and freelancers, maintaining the Copy Style Guide and brand TOV
  • Excellent time management, prioritising workloads at all times to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Provide leadership and manage the Involvement of all team members on an individual and group basis

 

As the Online Content Editor you will be accountable for all aspects of the department. By managing and leading your team confidently to deliver an extraordinary customer experience. Underpinning this is the ability to promote the company values, to lead the team to live them and exceed individual and departmental indicators

Skills / Experience

  • Educated to at least BA level in a Writing and/or Journalism specific degree
  • History of management experience with a content/editorial role (ecommerce preferably)
  • Impeccable English language and grammar skills
  • Sharp attention to detail
