A bit about the role

Based in our Oxford Street store you’ll provide a unique and tailored service in Editorial to customers internally and externally, going beyond the ordinary to create moments that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Our customers expect extraordinary service delivered by people with a genuine passion for what they do and to share their unparalleled level of knowledge whilst taking enormous pride in maintaining our exceptionally high standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Research and conceptualise seasonal fashion trends that are applicable to the business, in line with the internal Fashion Direction.
  • Produce trend boards for presentations to management and the wider business.
  • Respect and safeguard the codes of the brands assigned to the stylist while ensuring that they sit back to the key Selfridges customer sensibilities.
  • Develop a distinct tone of voice in the styling of the Selfridges menswear online offer.
  • Maintain excellent brand and competitor knowledge, ranging from High Street to Super Brands and everything in between.
  • Strike a balance between editorial vision and commerciality.
  • Dissect the relevant fashion trends into key items for the season.
  • Update the styling wardrobe consistently to ensure relevance to trends.
  • Make sure products are handled with care throughout the entire studio process and in line with Stock on Loan.
  • Develop hair and grooming direction for the season in collaboration with external specialists.
  • Collaborate with Ecommerce Styling Manager to ensure coherence between styling in online editorials and product photography.
  • Support Ecommerce Styling Manager in training & development of junior members of styling team.
  • Consult with Head of Casting on model casting direction.
  • Align with Creative Direction schemes and product strategy from Buying & Merchandising functions.
  • Attend photoshoots and execute styling on set.
  • Attend Fashion Week and similar trade events when necessary.

Personal Attributes / Behavioural Skills: 

  • At least 3 years of experience styling designer menswear fashion editorials, in-print or online.
  • Previous experience working for a sizable multi-channel retail brand preferred.
  • Plenty of on-set experience working with leading fashion photographers.
  • Calm disposition and an effective problem solver.
  • Ability to develop original concepts but also equally flexible in building on existing ideas.
  • Adaptable and is able to respond to a wider Fashion Direction.
  • A positive attitude and a good team player.
  • Must be able to execute several projects at once in a timely and efficient manner.
  • BA Fashion, BA Fine Art or equivalent.
