Job Introduction

Selfridges is going through an exciting period of change that’s driving transformation across our business.  To help meet this challenge, a new Portfolio Management Office is being formed to assure the quality of delivery across a number of change initiatives.  To deliver against our commitment, we are now looking to recruit an exceptional PMO Controls Manager who has demonstrable experience of working within a Portfolio or Programme Management Office to join our team and support delivering an exceptional service into the business.

A bit about the role

  • Leading the Governance, Reporting and Knowledge Management key Service Line within the Portfolio Office.  To include to the commissioning and management of all products, services and day to day transactional activity.
  • Ownership for producing and maintaining a suite of Portfolio Reports and other management information to support discussion at executive level board meetings.  This includes owning and evolving our Portfolio Performance Datasets. 
  • Work with our delivery community, and wider business stakeholders to land and sustain best practice within your Portfolio Office service line.
  • Develop lean, proportionate and value adding processes and controls at portfolio, programme and project level to drive successful outcomes.
  • Seek out and exploit opportunities to drive innovation, automation and self-service across your service line and the wider Portfolio Office.
  • Lead and manage the running of governance forums (as appropriate), ensuring timely provision of information.
  • Ownership of our Portfolio SharePoint environment, providing both maintenance, continuous improvement and day to day user support.
  • Working collaboratively with the other members of the Portfolio Office leadership team to deliver excellent services in to the business.
  • Day to day Line and/or Task Management of PMO team members.

A bit about you

Technical knowledge and practical experience

  • Hands on experience of applying project management methodologies for business led projects
  • In depth working knowledge of PMO processes and controls
  • Demonstrable experience of working across a varied portfolio made up of multiple programmes and projects.
  • Appreciation of project accounting and financial control systems
  • Recognised Project or Programme Management qualification, e.g. Prince2, APM, P3O, MSP
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft SharePoint
  • Intermediate to Expert user of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Retail, Customer First/Experience programmes
  • Experience of working with project management tools, including PPM tools such as JIRA, Clarity etc.
  • Experience of working with multiple delivery models and methodologies (waterfall, Scrum/iterative, LEAN, KANBAN etc.)
  • Interest in Continuous Improvement process efficiency, including the automation of processes
